April 2008
The flowers have started to peak through the ground and most skiers have put their skis away for the season….but not the hard core NPSC bunch. Numerous of our members are heading out west or up to New England to take advantage of the warmer weather and less crowds that are the signature of skiing in the spring. This is the time of the year that the ski resorts really appreciate ski club members-people who hit the slopes well before Christmas, and continue to pound the moguls well past the time that the first pitch is thrown at Citizen’s Bank Park.

The North Penn Ski Club had a fine year again this year. We were active at Spring Mountain, helping lots of new skiers learn our sport. ASIA, with its great programs for experienced skiers, was filled with plenty of NPSC members at their various programs throughout NY and New England. Our newly certified members were out on the slopes, teaching and perfecting their skills.

Our big trip was to Breckenridge, and plenty of snow, beautiful surroundings, and the friendship of fellow skiers made for a great week. The altitude took its toll on some members, but they battled through their oxygen issues and all got in plenty of skiing!
New Hampshire followed Breck in March, and a fine time was had by all! It rained a bit, but our skiers are a hardy bunch, and still had a great time exploring the slopes of the White Mountains!

Of course, our 3 Elk trips have become legendary, due to the efforts of Joanne and the nice people who stay up all night making the donuts for the bus ride. There is nothing like skiing during the week, with no lift lines and uncrowded slopes. It’s a great opportunity to work on your technique, venture into the moguls, or just show off for those riding the lifts overhead. And then you can do it again, and again…..all day!

On the administrative front, we will have several new members as officers and board members. It’s always good to have new blood in an organization, and we welcome their participation!

With our thoughts already to next season, the club will be going to either to Steamboat or to Mammoth-the decision should be made in the very near future. The carnival trip to Killington will be a fun event in late January, and our friends at Bucks County are planning a venture to the beautiful Montana resort of Big Sky in March.
Our 3 Elk trips will be sandwiched between the longer trips, so there is plenty of skiing to look forward to!

Join us for our annual banquet on April 10th, where we wrap up the season with awards, good food, and lots of photos and memories of the season! While we could always use more new members, the NPSC is healthy, due to the dedication of those who have been consistent contributors to the club over the years.

Thanks to all of you have made the North Penn Ski Club a place of friendship, good will, and lots of fun!
