Summer 2019

*** Keep in mind that NPSC has a supply of Wawa hoagie coupons available for purchase all summer long.  For just $4 each, you can purchase a Wawa coupon for any Shorti hoagie of your choice. (Depending on store & current promos, Shorti hoagies usually retail in the $4.59 – $4.99 range.)  These coupons never expire, so stick a couple in your wallet or in your car’s glove compartment so you’re always prepared!  A minimum purchase of 5 coupons is encouraged ($20).  Check out the Merchandise / Fund raising page of this website for details!  ****      Bruce Schwartz, coordinator, [email protected]

July 1   •   NPSC Membership dues renewal incentive

This info may be new to long-time members of North Penn, but our calendar year is now on a fiscal schedule. So our new year / new ski season runs from July 1, 2019 thru June 30, 2020.  Current members will receive an email “invoice” in June as a reminder to pay their dues for the new season. New members are welcome to join at any time of year, and when the next year/season comes up, you’ll also receive a reminder email.  As an incentive for current members to renew early (actually, to renew on time!), each membership that is renewed in July and August will receive $5 club cash that can be applied to any NPSC ski trip. Membership forms are available for download/print on this website; cost and address to mail payment to is provided on the form. You can also pay your NPSC dues in person at September’s general meeting, but the $5 club cash offer will no longer apply.     Linda Dedman, membership chairperson

No events scheduled.

Sunday, September 8   •   Fall Hike #1

Don’t know where we’re going to go just yet, but information will be available soon.  Check back often to see updates on this and any additional events this summer and fall. Meanwhile, save the date!     Bruce Schwartz, coordinator, [email protected]

Thursday, September 12   •   First general meeting of the 2019/20 ski season

After your long summer’s nap, get back into the swing of all things snow by attending our first monthly meeting of the new season. We meet at the Red Cedar Grille on Rte 309 in Colmar PA at 7pm in the “back room”.  You’re welcome to come for dinner, drinks, appetizers, coffee & dessert – whatever you’re hungry for – after all, the RCG is a restaurant!  However, because we have the back room reserved for our meetings, purchasing food or beverages is not required. Just show up and enjoy the get together!

At this first meeting we will be sharing all the details on upcoming ski trips planned for this season (Elk Mountain day trips and the Winter Carnival, for starters), as well as making last-minute coordinations for our remaining fall activities.  New members and guests are welcome to join us – for the evening, and as members in the club itself.  Current NPSC members that have not already renewed their dues for the 2019/20 season may do so at this September meeting as well. Lots of information will be shared, Wawa hoagie coupons will be available for purchase, and lots of socializing takes place too. Come on out and see for yourself!

September ???   •   Annual picnic with Upper Bucks Ski Club, 11am – 5pm

The past couple of years our two ski clubs have held a joint picnic at Pavilion #1 of Nockamixon State Park – UBSC is based in the Quakertown area, NPSC is in the Lansdale area.  This year’s date hasn’t been announced yet, but the event is always a lot of fun. There are trails to walk or bike, and Pavilion #1 is very close to the lake so bring your kayak or paddle boards too!  UBSC provides grilled meats, condiments, and paper products; NPSC members bring side dishes or desserts.  There is always lots of delicious food to enjoy.  So keep an eye out on this page for an exact date, and we’ll see you at the picnic!  (non-member guests welcome)

Thursday, October 10   •   Monthly meeting at SPECIAL location

It’s not a done deal yet, but we’re working on details for holding our October general meeting at Freddy Hill Farms / Mini golf, at 1440 Sumneytown Pike in Lansdale PA.  Freddy Hill Farms features 2 miniature golf courses, a scenic driving range, batting cages, a farm zoo, delicious homemade ice cream and fresh milk.  There’s a room inside where Freddy Hill hosts kids’ birthday parties, and that is where we hope to hold a very short “meeting” on October 10.  Members will then be enjoying all that Freddy Hill has to offer for the remainder of the evening.  If we can definitely make this happen, it will surely be a fun night!  Mark your calendars, and keep an eye out for updates.  In the meantime, here’s some pricing info for your reference:

Batting Cages: 7 cages featuring 3 different speeds for baseball and 2 speeds for softball; $1.50 per token or 6 tokens for $7.50

Each token provides 15 pitches. (Must be 7 or older to use the batting cages.)  Mini golf, group of 10-20 people, $5.50 per person (50 cent discount). More than 20 people, $5 each ($1 discount).

Sunday, October 13   •   Fall Hike #2

The location and timing of this fall hike has not been determined yet, but we wanted to make sure you marked your calendar so as to not book other activities that day. Details coming later this summer!      Bruce Schwartz, coordinator, [email protected]
