Bear Creek discounted Kids’ Lessons
This season, the Bear Creek Snowsports School will be offering a Tuesday Night Youth Lesson Series.  This revised lesson series is offered at a special discount for all club members in EPSC. This is a great way for kids to learn how to ski or ride or to continue to develop their skills, explore new terrain, and make new friends.

The lessons will be offered to children ages 8 to 14 (must be 8 years old by January 7th, 2020) and open to both skiers and snowboarders.

The six-week series begins on Tuesday, January 7th and runs through Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 6:30 to 8pm. The Youth Lesson Series is offered as a six-week series only. No make-up dates will be scheduled unless Bear Creek is closed for the day. The cost is $115 for ski club members ($145 for non club members) for the six-week series. Six- session lift passes and various other lift or rental packages are available; contact Bear Creek for full details.

Contact the School at [email protected] or 610-641-1319 for registration information. Proof of club membership must be presented at time of payment to receive the discounted rate. This series will have limited availability and is likely to fill quickly!

Ski PA 4th & 5th Grade Snowpass Program
Ski PA has a program to introduce 4th & 5th graders to the sports of skiing and snowboarding.  Also, to remind families that spending time on the mountains is a healthy and FUN family activity.  Brochures  are available.  See their website: https://www.skipa.com/deals/4th5th-grade-program/application-form.

Why Fourth & Fifth Grade?

This is a great age for children to learn a new sport with ease and to excel rapidly. Through the Snowpass Program and on-mountain experience, students can see the lessons of their 4th & 5th grade science studies in action (such as water resources at work, animal predator/prey relationships, geology structure, and the physics of lift mechanics). Also, ski resorts are a part of Pennsylvania history.

Ski PA First-Time Ski/Snowboard program
This winter, the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association is making it easy for families and outdoor enthusiasts interested in taking up skiing or snowboarding to get off the couch, get fit and enjoy the great outdoors with its “First-Time Ski/Snowboard” program. The special program is ideal for those interested in taking up a new winter sport and simply an affordable way to get in shape and enjoy the great outdoors. With the holidays looming ahead and with it those excessive calorie-laden meals, now is the perfect time for families to sign up and commit to an active winter of fun on the Pennsylvania slopes.

The First-Time Ski/Snowboard program takes the hassle out of planning and makes it easy for beginners to hit the slopes for the first time. Available for $59, ski and snowboard newbies receive a beginner lift ticket, group lesson and complete rental equipment. Quantities are limited, so it’s recommended to sign up early. All orders must be received online by Dec. 30, 2019. Purchase is limited to five vouchers per household. Vouchers can be used anytime, including weekends and holidays. To sign up, visit http://www.skipa.com/deals/first-time-offer.

Learn to Ski / Learn to Ski Better!

This winter’s ski lesson program, sponsored by the Eastern PA Ski Council (EPSC), will again take place at Spring Mountain. There will be 3 nights of lessons: January 6, 13, & 27, 2020.  Make-up night: Feb 3.

If there is an evening where lessons cannot take place (for example, should Spring be closed for bad weather), there will be a make-up night held on Monday, February 4th. However, as long as Spring is open, we WILL have lessons. Lessons start promptly at 6:30pm, and a registration table in the main lobby will be manned from 5-7pm each night.

Participants MUST be a current member of an EPSC-affiliated club and show their membership card on their first night of attendance. A completed registration form is required; blank forms will be available each night, but things will go faster if participants can have one filled out ahead of time and bring it along. (Available to download and print on EPSC website.) Lessons are available for never evers, novice and intermediate skiers. Attend just one night, or all three.
